LOUIS DAMS | SCHOOL | BAMAKO | MALI

UNITÉ D’HABITATION | Housing block(s) by le Corbusier as a machine for living. Services in the basement, housing in the midsection and leisure on top. The housing is placed as a rectangular block on a table construction, the ground floor and top could therefore be designed freely. The structure is made out of rough cast concrete and is north/south oriented.

UNI É D’EDUCATION | School block(s) as a machine for education. Services (guard, administration, infirmary, canteen, staff room) in the basement, the actual school (one floor with primary classrooms and two floors with secondary classrooms) in the midsection and education in a leisure form (staffroom, library and terrace) on the top. The concrete school block (cladded with isolation and stucco) is placed on a concrete table construction, more or less north/south orientated. There are different versions of this architectural structure possible and it is also adaptable to changes in educational programs to come.
