Leonardo Di Pisa was a mathematician who lived from 1180 untill 1250 in Pisa. In his book ’Liber Abaci’ (1202) he introduced the Hindu-Arabic Numeral System (based on ten numerals: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) in Europe. It is this numeral system we still use today and it is fair to say that this system is a keystone of our culture. But we know better Leonardo under the name of Fibonacci. In the same book he also introduced his Fibonacci Numbers: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233 and so on… With the Fibonacci numbers you you can also calculate the Golden Ratio (approximatly 1,618) He deserves for his achievements more acknowledgement especially in his home town: LEONARDO DI PISA CONFERENCE HALL.

HINDU-ARABIC NUMERAL SYSTEM | The building is supported by 10 columns (representing the ten Hindu-Arabic Numerals) on the ground floor. On the ground floor is the entrance and café.

FIBONACCI NUMBERS | The first floor is based on the grid structure of the Fibonacci Numbers on which the Golden Ratio Spiral is based. The auditorium, foyer, office, toilets and storage are on the first floor.

GOLDEN RATIO | The third floor represents the Golden Ratio Spiral. It houses the grand café.
