GIANT TREE
One giant tree. Not with one stem, but a lot of stems forming one giant tree, with intertwined branches. Supporting a roof of leaves, producing solar energy and providing the necessary shadow. 20 separate buildings underneath a giant tree, in the shadow. With open corridors in between providing vistas to the square, courtyard and the plains.

PROGRAM
20 separate buildings forming a campus. A school including housing and a dormitory under one giant roof of branches and leaves. 6 classroom buildings (12 classrooms), 2 school related buildings (aula, library, offices etcetera), 1 sanitary building, 4 dormitory building (including dining and washing), 6 double houses (12 houses) and 1 stable for the animals.

MATERIALS
The buildings are in brick, painted in white so the quality and consistency of the brick is not very important. Windows and doors that can be fully open (180 degrees) ‘hidden’ in a niche of the wall. The giant tree is made out of wood, the stems, the trenches. The roof is wood covered with corrugated sheet.

PUBLIC SPACES
The public spaces: the courtyard, patios and the square. They are not located under the tree but surrounded by it.
